CHE/NCAA 2007-08 Rules Adjustments
The Following are the rules adjustments CHE has declared over the 2006-08
NCAA Ice Hockey Rules and Interpretations. All
CHE teams must carry a copy of these rules adjustments to all league,
exhibition, and non-conference games.
- In
Rule 2, section 3.a of the NCAA rule book regarding number of players
dressed states that 18 players may be dressed and skate and also 2-3
goalies. CHE states that a maximum of 21 players including at least
one goalie may dress for a team in a game.
However, if only one goalie is dressed to play, only 19 other skaters
may dress.
- The
CHE by-laws state that any game that is delayed 30 minutes or more from the
original start time caused by the home or visiting team, the offending team
will forfeit the game.
- With
regard to curfews. As the CHE
By-laws state in Article XVI, section 16.04, “For games that are subject
to a curfew, the home team will set 2-minutes on the clock during the last
period and the game will be played to a finish.
Curfew games are official games and will count in the standings.”
Furthermore, at the first stoppage in play on or inside 10-minutes
(real time) before the scheduled curfew, the home team will set 2-minutes on
the clock and play to a finish. The
clock will start and stop just as regular play; there will be no running
clock.
- All
CHE regular season games shall utilize a three man officiating system.
The system shall be one (1) referee and two (2) assistant referees.
The system is outlined in Rule 5 of the NCAA Rules and
Interpretations.
- CHE
does not require uniform helmets or player’s shells.
However, NCAA approved helmets and equipment must be worn at all
times.
- All
CHE games tied after regulation shall play a 4 on 4, 5-minutes sudden death
overtime period (previously 5 on 5).
- Any
player who is assessed a penalty for “spitting” shall be charged an
immediate Game Disqualification (previously a game misconduct).
Remember: Games to serve DQ suspension(s) must be scheduled before DQ is received. Any exhibition games scheduled after the DQ is received will not count towards serving the suspension.
*In
all areas where it is not clearly stated in the CHE By-laws/Playing Rules, NCAA/ACHA
rules will govern all play.
